“As an integral part of the women’s movement I was party to the creation of the Commission. When the First Commission was formed we had great hopes for it. But I soon realized that if this had to be an effective public body and not merely one of the many teeming institution, it had be far more dynamic and vigorous.”
“When I took over as Chairperson of the second Commission in 1995, I came with many dreams. And I feel our one achievement is that today, I have women who come to me and say: ‘Mohini , this is not your Commission , this is our Commission .’ This identification with the Commission is a source of great strength.”
‘My dream is to get all women across party lines together to work towards action-oriented programmes that will ensure speedy justice to all women in India who need it. No woman must be treated like a Second - class citizen.’
